Beginning in Fall 2026, some Michigan Housing residence halls have a new card access system for entering residence halls, rooms, community bathrooms, and community spaces. These residence halls are
- Couzens Hall
- Stockwell Hall
- Oxford Housing
- Wolverine Village Building 1
- Wolverine Village Building 2
- Wolverine Village Building 3
- Wolverine Village Building 4
- Wolverine Village Harper Hall
- Florent Gillet (Marygrove Campus)
In residence halls with this new system, your MCard is your room key and will grant you access to areas you are authorized to access, such as the exterior doors, elevators, hallways, your assigned room, and community bathrooms in your assigned residence hall.
In addition to tapping your MCard at card readers, for security purposes, some doors also require you to enter a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) at the reader. These doors include:
- Your suite or room door
- Community bathrooms
To view your 4-digit PIN, you will find it on the home page of your Michigan Housing Portal.
This PIN is specific to you and remains your PIN should you get a new MCard. You should not share this PIN with any other resident.
This PIN will remain on the home page of your Michigan Housing Portal until the first week of fall 2026 classes. If you change this PIN at your residence hall Community Center, the PIN listed in your portal will no longer reflect the new PIN.
How to Use Your Card at Your Suite/Room Door or a Community Bathroom
At your residential room door or a community bathroom:
- Tap your MCard at the reader where the numerical pinpad is
- Enter your 4-digit PIN, followed by the # ke
Changing Your PIN
If you desire to change your PIN, beginning Friday, August 21, you will be able to come to your residence hall Community Center to have a member of the Michigan Housing team assist with that change.
