The Alumnae Council nominates the eight volunteer members of the Board of Governors. Additionally, the House President serves as a regular board member; the Resident Director serves as an ex-officio (non-voting) member. Elected members may be past residents or drawn from University of Michigan alumnae groups. The Board holds 6 meetings during the Fall-Winter Academic year.
The Board of Governors helps preserve the unique traditions of Henderson House and facilitates the enhancement of the residential and educational experiences of the residents - including group activities, cultural opportunities, and access to scholarships exclusive to Henderson House women.
In cooperation with Michigan Housing, the Board consults on capital repairs and improvements to the house. They partner with Michigan Housing in matters pertaining to Henderson House management and staffing. The Board welcomes you and wishes you a rewarding year of cooperative living!
